Members selected for temporary voluntary reinstatement must sign a standard agreement. They will continue to collect all rights to compensation under the ETFO collective agreement, including, where applicable, salary, benefits and pension contributions. Members are also entitled to the emergency pandemic bonus, if applicable, and the child care benefit available to those working during the pandemic. The program can extend into the summer months if the problems related to the pandemic persist at their current pace. In February 1994, the government significantly amended Ontario`s labour rules by changing the Labour Relations Act, the Public Services Act and the Crown Employees Collectives Bargaining Act to extend full representation and collective bargaining to a much larger number of PAHO employees, including PEGO members. As a result of these changes, PEGO members decided, at the 1994 Annual General Meeting, to instruct the Executive to seek recognition of PEGO as a legal negotiator for professional engineers and architects in PAHO. In November 1994, PEGO applied for negotiator status at the Labour Relations Council and obtained a provisional certificate in January 1995 (subject to the resolution of a large number of controversial positions).
