Utas Residency Agreement

In the summer, many of our residents enjoy going home and spending time with their families. Maybe they also want to take advantage of the break to travel around the state. Our rental contracts allow you to do this with occasional empty spaces during the summer period. As part of the NRAS terms, the Student Living Team must offer residents (or potential residents) of NRAS accommodation a housing agreement subject to the conditions set out in the Residential Tenancy Act 1997. You can opt for a longer housing contract if you wish – up to a maximum of 52 weeks. However, the minimum rental conditions apply on the corresponding studio sites on our website. If you have any questions, please contact us via our Request Now form or via email enquire@accommodation.utas.edu.au This is different from the 42-week residency agreement provided by the Student Living Team for non-NRAS accommodations. The University of Tasmania is part of the National Rent Affordability Scheme (NRAS). This means that we can offer students quality and specially built accommodation in fantastic locations at a fraction of the normal price. Throughout the year, we also organize many culinary events, from the winter party to pancake day. You can even take a cooking class or learn how to grow your own food during our gardening days.

If you need to break your rental agreement, you are responsible for paying the rent until the end of the lease or until a suitable replacement can be found by the student Living Team. Our accommodations have shared kitchens for independent care. The units, apartments and apartments each have shared kitchens where you can show your culinary skills to your new roommates. If you live in a university, you have shared kitchens in each residence. These include appliances, but residents must provide their own utensils (pots, pans, dishes and cutlery). If the accommodation does not offer cooking, meals are included. All fees must be paid two weeks in advance by direct debit from an Australian bank account or in advance before the start of your residency contract. Some of the frequently asked questions by the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) projects that are finalised will be answered below.
